Translation by Zasnoni All the bribes (i.e.
offers for high positions and authority, limitless wealth and beautiful women)
offered by the Kurish clan were rejected by the Prophet S.A.W. Those bribes
would normally influence many ordinary people, weakened their struggles and may
ultimately abandon their goals. However they did not influence the Prophet S.A.W.
His struggle to save mankind from the jaws of destruction was sincerely because
of Allah. It was neither for any selfish or family reasons nor did he aspect
anything worldly in return. The Prophet did not
stop his struggle midway. Instead he continued it with great conscience and a
strong feeling of responsibility to Allah. Thus, one day with a great respect
and love for his uncle, Abu Thalib, he (the Prophet S.A.W.) told him " My
uncle, eventhough they place the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left
hand so that I stop my struggle to uphold Islam, I will not stop until
Allah Gives me success or I am destroyed in the cause of the struggle. " That was the firm
belief that the Prophet S.A.W. had to reveal the truth, to implement justice, to
uphold Islam and to diligently struggle for Allah's pleasures. This was the
commitment and faith (iman) that the Prophet S.A.W. had that made Abu Thalib one
day said."Muhammed do as you please and in the name of my god I will not
ever leave you." The Prophet S.A.W.
was very grateful to his beloved uncle (Abu Thalib) who had raised him ever
since he was 8 years old when his grandfather, Abu Mutalib, died. The Prophet
S.A.W. respected his uncle greatly as he had given him all the help that he
could and also defended him in whatever situation. The Prophet S.A.W.
also knew of all the dangers and threats that came from all directions. His
uncle was however quite confused since on one hand he was a respected person
among the kurish clan and on the other hand he realized the purity and sincerity
of the Prophet's struggle. At the same time he still conveyed all the bribes
offered by the kurish clan and even hope that the Prophet might accept one of
them. Abu Thalib hoped that by accepting one of the bribes the dangers and
threats that the Prophet faced would be over. The Prophet did not
accept any of the bribes. Had he accepted any then the Islamic faith would not
have been here today. He rejected the bribes for 2 reasons, that they
contradicted with the principles of Islam and the conditions that were attached
to the bribes were too severe. The conditions stated that the Prophet should
stop upholding Islam, stop all efforts to introduce the law of Allah on to this
earth, to stop fighting for the truth and for justice and to stop defending the
oppressed. The Prophet could not accept this. Instead he would rather suffer and
be tortured by the kurish clan than to put aside and sell his iman (faith) and
tauhid for Allah to his enemies. Consequently, the perseverance to face all
forms of obstacles gave his followers more courage to face their enemies.
